About Sra. Skinner
My name is Danielle Skinner. This is my fourth year teaching at Ligon and I couldn't be more excited! I have taught both Spanish and ESL at elementary and middle school levels. I also spent the 2010-2011 school year teaching English in Spain to middle and high school students. I have a degree in Spanish Language and Literature and English as a Second Language from North Carolina State University (go Wolfpack!).
I have been in love with the Spanish language and culture ever since my studies began at Sanderson High School here in Wake County. While at NCSU I spent 6 weeks in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. There I lived with a Mexican family and took courses at Universidad Internacional . . . a life changing experience! I also had the chance to teach in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain. During that time I traveled to many places throughout the country and throughout Europe as well! I am grateful for the many opportunities to experience different cultures and dialects within the Spanish language.
In my free time I love to travel, run, bake, and spend time with my puppy. I love animals (especially dogs!), coffee, Mexican food, the color orange . . . and teaching! I feel so blessed to get to share my love of the Spanish language and cultures with such amazing young people each day! It is going to be a great 2014-2015 school year!
